Mommy who?
I’m actually here. I made the plane reservations. I arranged for my mom to come down and stay with Quinn. I notified all our clients that we’d be in Austin March 10 - 15. But it never actually sunk in that I was travelling, child-free, to SxSW. The first wave of awareness hit me as my 6am flight took off out of Oakland. “I’m on an airplane and am not frantically entertaining a baby/toddler/pre-schooler. I actually have a cup of hot coffee in one hand and a book in the other. Bliss.”
I’m missing Quinn like crazy. But every mother out there should do this. Get away for more than a few hours, a day, one overnight — get away for at least a few days on your own. Remember what it’s like to be YOU — not mommy. Then go home, re-charged and relish the mommyness.
