Let This Be A Lesson To You

So for the past 2 years we’ve borrowed Thor’s parents sofa while they lived in a house that did not accomodate it. It is a big cushy comfy sectional sofa with soft down pillows and lots of stretching-out space. Though visually, it’s not quite our aesthetic, for people with an affinity for television and lounging such as ours, it has been perfect.

In the mornings it’s a favorite spot for curling up with a cup of coffee and a laptop. In the evenings it’s a favorite spot for curling up with a glass of wine, Tivo and a laptop. (Yeah, just try breaking that addicition). Quinn loves to romp and wrestle on it, unload his bags of treaures all over it and sometimes snuggle down with us, a cozy blanket and a story book. Our friends come over and hunker down, anxious for a weekly fix of so-bad-it’s-good-television and gossip. And I know that in addition to the free laundry, our sofa and our Tivo are the main attractions for the free babysitting they provide.

Some people say the kitchen is the heart of the home. Perhaps I shouldn’t admit this, but I would say the sofa is the heart of our home.

A few months back Thor’s parents finally did the inevitable and bought a new house. They told us they’d be moving into the new place in or around March. It was a given that once they had a new house they would want their sofa back. We knew this. And yet, somehow, we lived in denial that we actually needed to deal with buying a new sofa. The task was just one too many for which there was no room on either of our plates. Plus we are notorious procrastinators.

Today was the unavoidable day. At their request, we hired a U-Haul and a couple guys off the street and moved the sofa out.

Now our television is very lonely and we are all very sad.

The lonely television

Raising a Kid
I'm Quinn's mom. He's basically The Cutest Kid in the Known Universe. Ok, I know, your kid's cute too, but this one's mine. He was born in March of 2002 and came home from the hospital to a shower of Cherry Blossoms.

Founding Companies
In January 2007 Thor & I joined forces with Lane Becker of Adpative Path to found Satisfaction Unlimited. You can get a sneak peak by going here and clicking on any company or organization that suits your fancy. And you can get more insight by checking out our Satisfaction Blog. Previous to Satisfaction I was a founding partner of Rubyred Labs, a design driven Internet product development firm where we made cool stuff and enjoyed breakfast, particularly when it involved cereal, coffee and grapefruit. Jonathan Grubb is still running Rubyred.

Keeping the Peace
All this has left me craving a nap, but I still somehow manage to find time to travel with my brilliant and adorable husband (and sometimes my friends), experiment in the kitchen, and hit the town with my gorgeous, smart, single gal pals who are in search of kind, eligible men (I know you're out there...)
