The Slipcover is There for a Reason. Trust Me.
Part III of the sofa saga which started with shock and despair and then moved into adaptability and fortitude…
So we ordered our new sofa from my girlfriend, Lisa, at Room and Board (in chocolate brown microsuede with a double-wide chaise — the television-loving me is very excited). Optimistically, we’ll have it by the end of May. But you know how furniture orders often go. And even so, that’s a looooong time to go without a sofa.
We had to do something in the meantime. Because while floor sitting is great for yoga and fun when you’re playing board games or are four years old (or Thor for that matter), it is not sustainable for watching the tele and/or working on your laptop. At least not for me.
What to do then? We needed a temporary solution that wasn’t going to cost us a lot. (And yes, we thought of beanbags, but let me tell you — not cheap, people!). So we turned to everybody’s favorite resource. And it cost us zero dollars. Of course, as they say, you get what you pay for. And in this case zero dollars got us lack of comfort and lack of style — and possibly sanitation. But it’s a place to sit that doesn’t make me feel like I’m in preschool. Though it does have a dorm room feeling about it…
