Wow that's intense. Actually, there are not sufficient words to describe what that is. I'm glad you and your baby got out ok. Thank you for sharing your story. It's a good reminder that nothing is permanent.

As a fairly recent, middle of the night housefire - lost everything - kinda guy, I'd have to say that when it really comes down to it, 'it' is nothing like you'd imagine. No time for anything. After instantly becoming awake to the cry of 'Shit! The house is on fire get the F**K out, NOW!' I was able to grab my 1y/o like a sack of potatoes, and when it came to the point of entering the smoke filled staircase to get out, something else took over and through the smoke we went, through the fully involved lower floor to the door. All by memory because the wildest thing was how THICK the smoke is, you really can't see a thing but glow all around you of orange, fading to black/brown.

Heavy. I watched my hard drives with 8 years of work and the 'backup drive' I thought would be safe waving to me in the form of a little blue flame flickering through the mess.

Zen does overcome you, regret lingers, and you move forward. The finalty, I'd say, is the same -but exact opposite- to having your first kid. Just a fact.. and you keep on keeping on... cheers! keep up the great work with kid(s!) and startup. Great stuff.

Nice to meet you, Mommybrain! I enjoy your blog -- very relate-able. Just read "Hop on Pop" last night to my five year old. If you think that's long, you should try "If I Ran the Zoo." ;) FYI - I'm Marcus Nelson's other half. Looking forward to your other writings.
