“Kindergarten is way different than Preschool, Mommy. It’s great!”

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Quinn loves kindergarten. Full stop. The kid is seriously electrified by it. I’ve always known kids are like sponges but I had no idea the rate at which they’re capable of soaking up knowledge and information. And how turned on they could get by it. I just figured kindergarten would be like a slightly more […]

Turns out The Magic Kingdom is actually kind of magical

Monday, September 17th, 2007

So Disneyland was everything we’d hoped for. We started our first day accidentally pulling out in front of someone on our way into the parking garage and got a half eaten bologna-on-white-bread sandwich chucked on to the hood of our car. It was awesome.
Day 1 was over 100 degrees F.
On the bright side, […]

California dreamin’

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

We leave tonight for our Southern California end-of-summer vacation. Quinn’s school starts late this year so we’re taking advantage of all the other kids being back in school and hitting Disneyland next week. (Going to Disneyland in the heat of summer with the HORDES of other people pretty much results in a deep hatred for […]

And so the trend continues…

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

A couple weeks ago Quinn had a sleepover at a friend’s. He was anxious about being away from me all night and was verbally worrying about missing me before he went over there. (I think partly, or maybe mostly, for my benefit). The next morning when he came home he came running in exclaiming “Mommy!”. […]

Honesty is the best policy?

Monday, July 30th, 2007

So I picked Quinn up from summer camp today. He gets in the car and I tell him his grandma (Goggy) is really sad today and really missing him — would he like to call her and cheer her up? He gets on the phone and the following ensues…
Q: Hi Goggy.
Goggy: (I assume says…) Hi […]

I need my shiny back

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

It’s now been about 10 days since Quinn sped away in the back of my parent’s Hyundai sedan in full command of the back seat with drinks in his drink holders, snacks in the snack tray, piles of books, toys, crayons. They took their time driving back up North stopping to see family along the […]

Why every woman should have a son

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Quinn: “I love you bigger than everything and anything, Mommy. I love Daddy as big as everything. (pause) You know why I love you a tiny bit more? (pause) Because your face is so soft. And it’s so beautiful to me.”

Like I said… but I didn’t expect it to happen THIS soon

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Well, so much for listening to me and the “no changing” thing. Quinn discovered his first loose tooth tonight. He asked what’s going to happen next. I explained that it will get looser and looser until it falls out and then we’ll put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy. Of course he wonders […]

I’ll show you mine…

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

So I’m picking Quinn up from school today. I’m chatting with his teacher out on the playground while he’s busy with some friends under the play structure. Our view of them is somewhat obscured.
Suddenly, Quinn comes running out yelling, “Miss N! A, N & M are showing eachother their penises!” (Mind you one of […]

Don’t go changing

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Quinn turns five on Friday. FIVE. There’s something so, oh I don’t know, all grown up sounding about five. By four I really couldn’t consider him a toddler anymore. I had already pushed it with three. But he was definitely still a pre-schooler. And could ride the bus for free. But now, five. That’s like […]

Raising a Kid
I'm Quinn's mom. He's basically The Cutest Kid in the Known Universe. Ok, I know, your kid's cute too, but this one's mine. He was born in March of 2002 and came home from the hospital to a shower of Cherry Blossoms.

Founding Companies
In January 2007 Thor & I joined forces with Lane Becker of Adpative Path to found Satisfaction Unlimited. You can get a sneak peak by going here and clicking on any company or organization that suits your fancy. And you can get more insight by checking out our Satisfaction Blog. Previous to Satisfaction I was a founding partner of Rubyred Labs, a design driven Internet product development firm where we made cool stuff and enjoyed breakfast, particularly when it involved cereal, coffee and grapefruit. Jonathan Grubb is still running Rubyred.

Keeping the Peace
All this has left me craving a nap, but I still somehow manage to find time to travel with my brilliant and adorable husband (and sometimes my friends), experiment in the kitchen, and hit the town with my gorgeous, smart, single gal pals who are in search of kind, eligible men (I know you're out there...)
